Job Description:

About L4B Software

L4B Software develops secure, reliable operating-system platforms for embedded, regulated and mission-critical products. Our engineers work across embedded Linux, Android/AOSP, BSPs, cybersecurity, DevOps and system validation, helping customers build long-lifecycle products for industries including medical technology, automotive, industrial systems and other demanding environments.

We work close to the operating system, hardware and product architecture, solving complex platform challenges where reliability, security and maintainability matter.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior AOSP Platform Engineer to develop, customize and integrate Android-based operating-system platforms for embedded and long-lifecycle products. This is a platform engineering role, not an Android application-development position. You will work below the application layer across Android framework, native services, HALs, BSP components, system integration and platform debugging.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain customized AOSP platforms.
  • Develop and customize Android framework and system components.
  • Work with native Android services and system services.
  • Develop and integrate HAL and AIDL interfaces.
  • Integrate vendor and SoC platform components.
  • Support BSP and device bring-up.
  • Debug issues across Android framework, native services, kernel and vendor layers.
  • Integrate SELinux policies and platform-security configurations.
  • Support Android compatibility and platform validation.
  • Work with CTS, VTS and related test suites where applicable.
  • Support OTA and platform update mechanisms.
  • Improve build, integration and CI/CD workflows.
  • Analyze performance, stability and reliability issues.
  • Produce maintainable platform documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Linux, security and validation engineers.

What you bring

  • Strong commercial AOSP platform-development experience.
  • Good understanding of Android system architecture.
  • Android framework or system-service development experience.
  • Strong C/C++ skills.
  • Java and/or Kotlin experience at platform level.
  • HAL and/or AIDL experience.
  • Strong Linux debugging skills.
  • Experience working with Android BSP and vendor components.
  • Git and structured software-development practices.
  • Experience diagnosing complex cross-layer platform issues.

Nice to have

  • Qualcomm platform experience.
  • SELinux.
  • Android Verified Boot.
  • Linux kernel knowledge.
  • Device Tree.
  • Bootloader exposure.
  • CTS, VTS or GTS.
  • OTA and update systems.
  • Android performance optimization.
  • Experience with regulated or long-lifecycle products.

What success looks like

You become a technical owner of major parts of the Android platform and help L4B deliver stable, maintainable AOSP-based operating systems rather than one-off Android builds.

Our hiring approach

We hire for capability, relevant experience and potential. If you meet most of the requirements and believe you can contribute to the role, we encourage you to apply. Equivalent practical experience is welcome where a formal degree is not essential to the work.
